The Battle for Las Vegas - The Real Story Behind the Movie Casino

“King of the Strip”

In the 1970s and thru the mid-1980s, the Chicago Outfit was the dominant organized crime family in Las Vegas, with business interests in several casinos. During those years the Outfit and its colleagues in Kansas City, Milwaukee, and Cleveland were using Sin City as a cash cow. Commonly referred to as the “skim,” unreported revenue from certain casinos was making its way out of Vegas by the bag full and ending up in the coffers of the crime bosses in those four… Continue

"Chocolate Perfection" - a poem

I'm already thinking about my next collection of poetry and here is a sure fire candidate for inclusion in it. I wrote this last night @ Flirtease after sampling one of their exquisite desserts.

I would hope to see some of you down there on Monday 10th March for the next instalment of I:Poet meets OD:Poetic - The Features and Spoken Word Open Mic event for North West London. Spread the word and you know where you heard it first!

"Curve" - a poem

“Curve”

The curve of your lips

Catches my eye

So I wonder

If I can keep that curve alive

So it matches

The beautiful arch of your back

The roundness of your behind

The beautiful line of your smile.

I found this site last year and submitted a poem in the hope it could help someone who was a survivor of rape or sexual abuse. In INSPIRED my first book of poetry I have dedicated 'Stealing MyThunder' (which can also be found on this website as the first post in the supporters section - it was created as a result of my sending it to David.) There are all these amazing people who are not victims anymore but survivors born anew. My wish is that this poem can… Continue

Forbidden, My Muse PG- 13

glitter-graphics.com FORBIDDEN, My Muse

I see him often at Midnight. Does he know? The way he moves is so sensual, and serene at the same time. To know even the slightest touch from his warm fingers, would be so erotic against my heated skin. Does he know? Does he sense me in the shadows? Does he smell my perfume, dream of my sweet full lips? I dream of his lips,… Continue

Cat and Arrow

My kids were playing this game a couple of weeks ago online. You, the player had to help this cat that had a bow and arrow hit a target. And to make it interesting and comedic, A rope from the end of the arrow was attached to the cat's tail. Of course theres and obsticle course you had to direct the cat and arrow around. We nearly died laughing as the cat bounced around after the launch of the arrow. The scoring was similar to golf in that actually hitting the bull's eye in one shot was a whole… Continue

Who am I

Who am I

I'm the one you tease

Cause I'm different

I'm te one you bother

Cause I'm just there

I'm the mat you step on

I'm the rock you kick around

And you think you can control me

Like I'm the clay and you're the sculptor

Like I'm the robot and you press my buttons

But you can't control me

I may be nothing as you say

But your words don't mean jack to me

I am somebody

sooner or later you'll see me on the street

Joy Comes

Joy Comes

Life has become a well worn rut

joy would help me rise above

they say joy comes in the morning

but I sure could use some now

peace I say to the chaos in my head

nobody knows the trouble I've caused

I can't turn back now

take away this cup

give me strength

to grasp what I long for

my spirit hopes

my body weary

joy would see me through

they say joy comes in the morning

but I sure… Continue

Hope to Hang on to

Hope to Hang on to

I've heard tell that January's gray days

bring about great sadness and depression

Northern winter skies dawn harsh and cold

bidding you remain beneath the blanket

obligations beckon you to meet the mule

Mama always said there'd be gray days

don't want to go on living days

wish I were in someone else's shoes days

but what if we had hope to hang on to?

Hope of a better tomorrow

Hope for just a little less… Continue

Far-Right Historian Commits Suicide In Notre Dame Cathedral

Dominique Venner, a well-known French historian who embraced and wrote about ultra-conservative causes for decades, committed suicide today in front of the alter at Notre Dame Cathedral. He had left a post on his blog decrying the legalization of same sex marriage in France. "An infamous law ... can always be repealed," he wrote. "It will require new, spectacular and symbolic actions to rouse people from their complacency."
