About Me:
Joseph Richard Turner Jr was born September 20, 1958 in Jackson Michigan. He moved from there at an early age to live the remainder of his life in the Deep Southern regions of Mississippi and Western Tennessee with his mother and sister. He is a 1977graduate from South Panola High School, Batesville Mississippi. Mr. Turner entered into the military after graduation to serve his country until the untimely death of his mother the late Minnie Marie Chapman in 1981. After living in Jackson Mississippi for a short period of time Joseph return to the city which he calls home Memphis Tennessee. He attended Shelby State Community College here in Memphis majoring in dietary and nutrition receiving a certificate in food service management in 1991. He worked odd jobs until he enter the security profession in 1994. Mr. Turner always enjoyed writing yet he didn’t take upon the task seriously until 2005.

Using the penname J R Turner II he wanted to write about things that are normally spoken behind close doors. He wanted to give a person that is out there in this world a chance to feel that they too aren’t alone. Sometime what we have to say has a tendency to fall on deaf ears. J R created these stories to give others a sense of closure, hope and inspiration in their lives. His stories have no racial barriers, no economical status, no primary religious beliefs, or culture. He wanted to address key issues that people face when dealing with divorces and the separation from a child.

'Mad Scientists,' Building The Future For 50 Years

If you've used a GPS system — or if you happen to be using the Internet to read this — you can thank DARPA, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. For 50 years, the smallish, somewhat secretive division of the Pentagon has been mostly off-limits to reporters. Now author Michael Belfiore has profiled the agency in a new book.

Television Writer David Lloyd Dies At 75

One of television's most successful comedy writers, David Lloyd, died this week. He was 75. Lloyd wrote for Jack Paar, Johnny Carson and Dick Cavett. Arlington Ladies Pay Tribute To Fallen Soldiers

The Arlington Ladies believe that no death should go unmourned. How do they make sure that happens? The group of women attend people's funerals, even though they don't know them. NPR's Petra Mayer caught up with a few of the ladies at Arlington National Cemetery during this week's Veterans Day celebrations.

WWI-Era Mass Grave Rediscovered In France

Experts are now trying to identify the bodies and prepare them for burial in a new war cemetery in the heart of Fromelles.

Terra Cotta Warriors March Through Washington

In 1974, a group of farmers digging a well in central China stumbled upon a buried figure. It turned out to be one of an estimated 7,000 life-sized terra cotta warriors in an underground tomb complex. The warriors and a host of other figures were created for China's first emperor, Qin Shihuangdi. Host Guy Raz drops by the National Geographic Museum in Washington, D.C., to see an exhibit of the figures.

What The Future Holds When China Rules

He discusses his new book, When China Rules the World.

In 'Prisoner,' Twisted Whimsy Flirts With New Fears

At the height of the Cold War, the television series The Prisoner was so subversive and enigmatic, it lasted just 17 episodes. There's finally a remake, but if you're expecting a faithful re-creation of the British series, actor Jim Caviezel says you'll be disappointed.
