Hi All! Welcome to my page!

My name is Stacy-Deanne (Dee-Anne). I am a veteran author of twelve years. I began writing professionally when I was nineteen years old. I write mainstream fiction including mysteries and thrillers. My first book, "Divas of the New Millennium" was published in 2005 by Amber Communications Group Inc and became a very popular seller. My second book is "Everlasting" published by Strebor Books of Simon and Schuster in 2007. My recent book is the thriller "Melody" published by Strebor Books of Simon and Schuster in June 2008. I was also featured in the 2006 book, "Literary Divas: The Top 100+ Most Admired African-American Women in Writing"

My favorite writers are Kay Hooper and Linda Howard. I grew up reading the classics and love the authors, Edgar Allan Poe, Robert Louis Stevenson, Oscar Wilde, Mark Twain and Charles Dickens.

ABOUT MY RECENT THRILLER MELODY:

Melody by Stacy-Deanne (available now wherever books are sold)
Publisher: Simon and Schuster/Strebor Books
Released: June 3, 2008
Genre: Mystery, Thriller and Suspense
ISBN: 1593092032

Two stories of deadly passion intertwine in this gripping mystery by best selling author Stacy-Deanne, who weaves a thrilling tale of love and death.

Melody is unlike any other thriller...

Melody Cruz is certain her sister’s new boyfriend, the wealthy, charming and handsome Keith Taylor, has a dark past that he will do anything to hide. Wanting to protect her sister, Melody works to uncover Keith’s secrets, not realizing that in doing so, she is sacrificing her own safety---because Keith will go to any lengths, dangerous or violent, to keep himself in control.

At the same time, a man named the “Albany Predator” has been brutally raping black women throughout the city, and Melody is convinced that her best friend is the rapist’s next target. Detectives Brianna Morris and Steven Kemp are placed on the case, determined to bring the sadistic felon to justice. But when things couldn’t get anymore complicated, all evidence is turned around to reveal a surprising suspect.

Full of forbidden desire and unwavering strength in the face of danger, Melody is a chilling tale that will leave readers breathless as they navigate all the plot twists and turns. Struggling to survive until the end, the diverse cast of characters will be left questioning their loyalties, their passions and how far they might be willing to go to protect the ones they love.

Study: Political Bent Affects How We View Skin Tone

A new study suggests that a person's political attitudes can affect how he views the skin tone of biracial politicians like President Obama. Self-described liberals were most likely to rate lightened photos as the most representative of Obama. Conservative students tended to pick darkened photos.

In Afghanistan, A Plan To Woo The Taliban

The Afghan government and the U.S. military are pursuing an effort to lure low-level insurgents with job offers and other incentives, and split them from their Taliban leaders. In his second inaugural last week, President Hamid Karzai called on militants to lay down their arms and return to their homes.

Russian Convents Face Obstacles To Restoring Past

Russia has seen an explosion in the number of Orthodox convents in the decades since the end of communist rule. There are now more than 240. Most of the renovated convents — many in remote areas — are based on their distant history and devotion to their particular icons. But for many reasons, reviving the past is far from easy.

Undertaker Hopes To Revive Dying Kansas Town

Many small towns across rural America continue to see population declines. But the tiny town of Preston, Kan., is getting help from an unlikely source: An Arizona mortician who has set up shop there and hopes to draw business from a 50-mile radius.

College Graduates Struggle To Repay Loans

The abysmal job market is making it hard for some to start making student loan payments, which come due this month for May graduates. A new law could ease the pain for some: It limits monthly payments to 15 percent of a graduate's income.

Is Tax Deduction For Home Mortgages A Bad Idea?

The tax deduction for mortgage interest is a cherished benefit for millions of Americans, but most economists think it's a bad idea. One of those economists, Dennis Ventry of the University of California-Davis, talks to host Guy Raz about the history of the deduction, and why the odds of changing it are so long.

Daschle: Health Care Overhaul 'Within Our Reach'

President Obama has recruited former Sen. Tom Daschle to help persuade reluctant Democrats to approve health care legislation. Daschle discusses his role and how he hopes to make lawmakers understand "the consequences of failure."

Author Recounts 'Buffalo Saga'

The Buffalo Soldiers have been called the unsung heroes of World War II. James Harden Daugherty was only 19 when he was drafted in the U.S. Army. He left the United States, where he was still abiding by "Coloreds Only" Jim Crow laws, to help fight for freedom and liberation for those abroad. Daugherty, who's written a book called The Buffalo Saga, revisits those years with host Guy Raz.

Scientist Explains Earth's Warming Plateau

Research shows that over the past several years, Earth's temperature has not been heating up. Climate change skeptics claim this as evidence that global warming is overexaggerated. But the man who did the research, climate and ocean scientist Mojib Latif, says "not so fast." Latif talks to host Guy Raz about the Earth's temperature plateau and what it means for global warming.

In Oregon, Boat Owner Worries Over Climate Change

Officials in Portland, Oregon, are planning a new light rail bridge over the Willamette River. Dan Yates, owner of a small company that runs boat excursions on the river, tells host Guy Raz he's afraid that climate change and rising water levels will keep his boats from passing under the proposed bridge.
