Author and Educator
Recently, I won a grant, two years in a row, to produce and perform in a collaborative play: Diary Of A Mad Black Feminist.
Of course, I am also proud of my debut novel, E-Males, which has a five out of six star rating on Amazon.com. Lastly, my creative nonfiction story, Before We Were Gangstas, won Honorable Mention in the New Millenium National Writers of Creative Nonfiction Contest in 2003.
Why I'm Here:
Professional, To Network, To Make Friends, To Share Ideas, To Learn, To Change the World
My passion has always been writing, which is second only to thinking in my book (pun intended).
My work is meant to change the stereotypes about African American women. I want to reveal the diversity within our community to the world which currently focuses on just one segment (the ghetto) as being representative of us all. Once this perception changes, I think it will influence public policy which has been directly linked to society's conceptions of race, class and gender.
My dreams are the same as my hopes. i want to be instrumental in this change.
I want to be a resource for other writers. Because of my background and experience in publishing, I can be a source of information for those who need support and advice.

I thought Chocolate Hearts was going to be an easy and fun way for me to meet some brothers on my level with similar interests. How was I supposed to know that… Continue
