Hey Derrick, glad u are telling your story. I pray it is a blessing to many others who are or ever were in your shoes. You were given a second, and probably up to a fifth chance in life, for certain, as I am sure you watched many people perish beside you. Now, you are giving back to others and I am proud of you for that. Additionally, as a single father of three boys, you are to be commended for "handling yours"! U are serving your purpose. Keep blessing!

Why I'm Here:
To Network, To Make Friends, To Share Ideas
My Passion:
I wrote this book for one reason and one reason only; with hopes that I may save one youth from traveling the same path I did.

I grew up in San Francisco, CA and I was a relatively good child. I had a dream like most boys my age and that was to become a professional basketball player. When I reached the junior college level a coach stated, “You’ll never be a division one player let alone a professional”. As those words sanked into my psyche I thought, then what? That thought affected me so much that I just lost hope. My grades began to fail. What ultimately happened was I was kicked off the team.

So with a sense of hopelessness I became a failure at college and eventually left and got a job.

I needed to feel successful at something. As a drug dealer, I was just that, successful. I built a multi-million dollar business and didn’t care who fell in that process. Or so I thought. In my book I speak of a little boy begging me not to sell drugs to his mother and the child banging on the door while I had sex with her. But this is what I didn’t get the chance to write. I ran into that boy. I didn’t recognize him but he recognized me immediately. He made sure he reminded me of where I knew him from. I embarrassingly asked about his mother and he told me she had died of a drug overdose. I couldn’t help but notice that he was very well dressed. He then proceeded to share with me that he was now in the life and some of the terrible shit that he was involved in.

The Game Is Ova is my true story.

The Games is Ova , details the life of former drug dealer “ Clay” whose original goal was to become a professional basketball player. When his dream did not become a reality and life didn’t turn out the way he planned. Clay learns the meaning of struggle. He soon learns another game to quickly make money, get respect, and feel power. He also learns that "The Game" ultimately leads to pain, fear, paranoia and sometimes death.

Derrick O'Neal shares his experience of building a multi-million dollar drug operation in and the life he experienced while building it. The Game Is Ova offers a vivid picture into "The Game" without sugar coating the danger and rawness of the life of a drug dealer. This is his true story.

Reader Reviews

This true life tale will take you on a ride and through a range of emotions...but one thing you will know is that despite the title, the game has only begun for this fresh new voice in writing. -
—S. E. Harris, author/talk show host

The Game Is Ova, paints a vivid picture of what can happen to a young man when he suddenly finds his dreams are shattered. A revealing memoir.

Plaintiff In Indian Case On Settlement

The federal government announced Tuesday a $3.4 billion settlement with Indian trust account holders after more than a century of mismanaging their money. Elouise Cobell, a lead plaintiff in the long-running lawsuit Cobell v. Salazar, says the settlement means a lot to her, but more for American Indians who have waited a long time for justice.

A new study says that 66 million Americans provide care for an elderly parent, family member or a disabled child, and that caregiving has become an unpaid, part-time job. On average, caregivers provide 19 hours of help a week, and this causes people to miss work or to quit work altogether.
